NGO SELECTION CRITERIA
Selection criteria for partner organisations. My Lovely Planet, published by IMAGINE. Version 1.0, 9 September 2026
1. THE SPIRIT OF THESE CRITERIA
This document describes the guidelines Imagine applies to decide which public-interest organisations can be offered to players of My Lovely Planet (the "Game") and join its partnership programme.
These criteria are guidelines, not a right of access. Imagine reviews each application on a case-by-case basis, in the interest of players, of the Game and of its purpose as a mission-driven company. As a result:
- meeting all the criteria does not guarantee admission to the programme;
- failing to meet one of them does not automatically lead to a refusal, as Imagine may grant an exception where it considers it justified;
- Imagine does not have to give reasons for its decisions to accept or refuse;
- Imagine may change these criteria at any time and review the situation of an existing partner, under the conditions set out in the General Partnership Terms.
The aim is to offer players reliable, clear organisations whose work is concrete and verifiable, and who are able to bring the partnership to life with their own community.
2. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
2.1 Legal status and public interest. The organisation is a non-profit legal entity: a registered association (French law of 1 July 1901 or local law of Alsace-Moselle), an association recognised as being of public utility, a foundation, an endowment fund, or an equivalent structure in the countries where the Game is available. It pursues a public-interest mission: disinterested management and work open to all, not reserved for a restricted circle of members.
2.2 Social or environmental mission. The organisation's main activity falls within at least one of the Game's categories:
- Environment: climate, forests, biodiversity, oceans, pollution, energy
- Animals: animal protection, shelters, endangered species
- Social: poverty, insecurity, housing, integration, older people, disability
- Humanitarian: emergencies, disasters, refugees, food aid
- Clean water: access to water, sanitation, hygiene
- Children: child protection and support
- Education: access to education, literacy, training
- Health: medical research, prevention, access to care, mental health
The work must be concrete and verifiable (ongoing programmes, achievements, activity report).
2.3 Minimum age: 3 years. The organisation has existed for at least three years at the date of its application, counted from its declaration (publication in the Journal officiel) or its founding act, and has at least three closed financial years.
2.4 Minimum size: annual budget of 100,000 euros. Total income for the last closed financial year is at least 100,000 euros, as shown in the organisation's annual accounts or financial report. This threshold aims to ensure that the organisation has a permanent structure able to manage the partnership (contact person, invoicing, communication).
Imagine may waive this threshold for a smaller organisation of particular interest to players, for example an engaged community of at least 10,000 combined social media followers or 1,000 active donors, or membership of a recognised national network.
2.5 Transparency and governance. The organisation makes its annual accounts available, identifies its leaders, has an active website and verifiable contact details, and appoints a contact person for the partnership.
2.6 Ability to bring the partnership to life. The organisation is able to share the partnership with its community (website, newsletter, social media, donors, volunteers) and to provide presentation materials (texts, logo, visuals, key figures).
3. EXCLUSIONS
The following cannot join the programme, whether or not they meet the criteria in section 2:
3.1 Political organisations. Political parties and movements, groups affiliated with or funding them, organisations created or run for electoral purposes, structures campaigning for or against candidates or parties, partisan think tanks. Note: thematic advocacy (defending a cause with public authorities, proposing changes to the law) is compatible with the programme as long as it remains non-partisan.
3.2 Religious organisations. Religious associations (French law of 9 December 1905) and organisations whose main purpose is worship or proselytism. Faith-inspired charities may be considered on a case-by-case basis when their aid is given regardless of belief and falls within a category of the Game.
3.3 Incompatibility with a game for all ages. Organisations whose activity or communication concerns subjects that Imagine cannot promote in an app intended for all ages, or that the distribution platforms (Apple App Store, Google Play) do not allow to be promoted: notably weapons, tobacco, alcohol, gambling and sexual content.
3.4 Reputation and compliance. Organisations that incite hatred, violence or discrimination; that have been reported for cult-like practices; that are subject to sanctions or asset freezes; that have been convicted or prosecuted for breach of trust, embezzlement or fraud; that are involved in a major unresolved public controversy; or whose transparency is deemed insufficient.
4. ADDITIONAL ASSESSMENT CRITERIA
Once the eligibility criteria are met, Imagine takes into account the following elements in particular, none of which is decisive on its own:
- the organisation's reputation and the size of its community (social media, newsletter, donor base);
- its ability to provide field content (photos, videos, testimonials, impact indicators) usable in content produced by Imagine;
- labels and recognitions: Don en confiance, IDEAS label, recognition of public utility, ministerial approvals, membership of France generosites or an equivalent collective;
- existing support from corporate sponsors, which may tie in with Imagine's offer for companies;
- responsiveness and a dedicated contact person;
- the balance of the partner portfolio: Imagine aims for a balanced distribution across the Game's categories and may limit the number of organisations covering the same theme.
5. PROCEDURE
1. Application: the organisation applies through the dashboard and provides the documents requested by Imagine.
2. Review: Imagine checks the status, age, accounts, reputation and consistency of the mission with the Game's categories. The review takes from a few days to a few weeks, with no guaranteed timeframe.
3. Decision: acceptance, refusal or request for further information, notified via the dashboard or by email. A refusal does not have to be justified.
4. Integration: the accepted organisation completes its page in the dashboard. As soon as it publishes it, the page is offered to players immediately.
5. Review: Imagine may review a partner's situation at any time, in particular if its situation changes, and suspend or remove it from the programme under the conditions set out in the General Partnership Terms.
6. New application: a refused organisation may reapply after twelve (12) months, or earlier if its situation has changed significantly.
The French version of this document prevails.
